FLORAL DESIGN

 

Come learn how to make a floral piece that you can give as a gift or take home for your own decoration.  Ages 18 and up.  Mondays and Wednesdays starting May 4- May 13 5-7pm at the Juniper Art Guild.  Cost is $28. Register at Crook County Parks and Recreation 296 S Main St, or online

COMMUNITY GARDEN PLOTS

 

Crook County Parks and Rec has 12'x10' and 12’x20’ garden plots available for the gardening enthusiast or those interested in learning. Fees are $30 for the 12’x10’ and $40 for the 12’x20’.  This includes access, water, clinics, seeds (when possible), community tools, and all the crop you can handle. Space is limited. Growing/plot rental season is from May 2 to November 1. Applications now being accepted in the office at 296 S Main St

FIREARM SAFETY/CONCEALED HANDGUN CERTIFICATION

 

Firearms Safety; Concealed Handguns Certification.  This is a lecture and instructor demonstration course that meets the specific requirements one needs to obtain both the Oregon and Utah concealed handgun permits. There is NO gun handling by any of the students.  Training in handguns, handgun safety and legal considerations.  Ages 21 and up.  Sunday May 3 from 2pm-6pm.  Cost is $55. CPR/AED/FIRST AID

 

Participants will gain the confidence to preform CPR on any individual big or small. The class is approximately 4 hours long. Students will receive an American Heart Association certification that is valid for two years. Class will be held at the Juniper Art Guild on Saturday, May 9 from 8am to 12pm and the cost is $55 for ages 14 and up. Register at Crook County Parks and Recreation 296 S Main St, or online

PICKLEBALL

 

Beginner to intermediate players will learn the rules, scoring, and basic court positioning. After one of these sessions, you’ll be ready to participate in organized play. Wear non-marking court shoes. Paddles provided or bring your own.
 



Tuesdays, May 5 to May 26 - 5:30pm to 7pm - Fee: $20

Thursday, May 7 to May 28 - 5:30pm to 7pm -Fee: $20

Each session will have two courts.  One will be assigned to beginner/intermediate and the other for advanced players

Jeannie Searcy Retirement Open House

After 26 1/2 years Jeannie Searcy will be retiring from Crook County Parks and Recreation. We will be having an open house for all here in our office April 30th from 2-5pm. Feel free to stop by at any time.

17th Annual Trout Fishing Derby

 

Join CCPRD Staff for the 17th Annual Trout Fishing Derby May 2nd from 7-11 am. It's a great morning of local fishing competition regardless of weather conditions. Fishing is open to anglers of all ages, with fishing from either shoreline or boat. Anglers are responsible for knowing current fishing regulations from the 2015 synopsis applicable to Ochoco Lake, and knowing time of day so as not to miss the measure and weigh-in deadline. Bring your personal fishing gear, and wear cold weather attire. Complimentary snacks, hot coffee, and hot chocolate provided to all anglers. Register early as the registration fee goes up to $8.00 if you register the morning of the derby
